And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out His love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom He has given you.
Life is disappointing at times. All of us have been raised on what is consider the American ideal of a life. We grow up and go to school. Study hard and get a good job. Meet the spouse of your dreams, marry, have children and live happily ever after. The sad part about that is when something comes along that disturbs our lives we feel robbed of our American dream.
If you are a Christian you were raised in this ideal American dram on top of the ideal Christian dream. The ideal Christian dream is that as long as you worship God and do what is His will and attend church, tithe and do what you feel God has called you to do; well then God would put a hedge of protection around you. Then one day you wake up and discover the hedge has been burned to the ground and your life is in turmoil. How did that happen? Weren’t you following God and doing as He wanted? You search your mind and discover sin and think this is your punishment for that. Perhaps you search and find nothing and like Job you wonder why God has allowed it. Gone is the Christian dream too.
Well let me tell you the journey through Lent will be good for all of us. We are going to really look at God’s word and see what it has to say regarding a hard life and just what do we get out of trials.
I chose this topic because it will be therapeutic not just for you but for me as well. A lot of us are going through some rather difficult times. I want to take on those hard times and I want to face them and deal with them and dispel them and be victorious over them. Where do I get this energy to fight from ? My God who through the Holy Spirit has put deep within me a spirit of hope. Let us pray:
Lord God it is a hard lesson to learn when we are doing what we thought we should have done in life to secure happiness and within seconds all that we worked for is gone. Life is changed and no longer ideal. Still, You are God and You are here with us. Teach us Father what it is You want to teach us in the storms so that when the skies clear and the sun shines, we shall see Your glory from heaven shinning down upon us. This I pray in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen
